Let’s face it, cooking is not the priority of life for every man, woman or child on this planet. In fact, too many people have given up on the idea of how to prepare for what is important in their lives. This means that we often focus on packaged food and entertainment, instead of spending time preparing healthy meals for our family and our own enjoyment.
This means that at some point in your cooking cycle there is a good chance that someone is preparing you worse or better than you. Take advantage of this because the best ones have bad days in cooking. There are a number of people who cook for a variety of reasons. Some are prepared to eat and survive, while others are ready to enjoy the digestive process. Some cook in emotional turmoil, others out of sheer boredom. Whatever your reason for cooking or learning to cook, you need to start with the basics.
The good news is that once you've learned the basics of cooking, you'll never change. This means that you can continue to build and develop your culinary skills. As you learn new recipes and improve your cooking skills and talents, you’ll find that making meals from scratch is much healthier than making packaged foods on the shelves you buy at local grocery stores.

St. Paddy’s Day is near and I almost thought! Near. Thankfully, there are many good souls that remind me of this coming holiday. So many vegetables and a mischievous Guinness? No, that's not true. But I decided to share some Irish recipes with you. The first (this) is a recipe for hash browns. Due to the salty taste of the dough’s crunchy texture, it can be said to be something between hash brown and crepe. In addition to adding nutmeg, I did almost nothing with the traditional boxing recipe. By no means do I want to convey that I recommend for the mother to be inactive. Make it loud! I love serving mine with a fried egg on top. You can serve it with hard-boiled eggs, soft-boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, or plain scrambled eggs. You can also add a little bacon as a side dish. It really depends on your preference. Did you know that potatoes and Ireland have a common history? You can go to Google about this. Anyway, Happy Saint Paddy and I hope you try this recipe.
Ingredients and spices you need to prepare for Boxty:
- 240 g Yukon Gold Potato,
- 128 g daily unpeeled flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 113 g butter
- A bit of freshly grated nutmeg
- Unsalted butter, preferably Irish, for cooking.
- 2 eggs,
- a little pepper
- Slightly smoked sea salt.
- finely chopped parsley,
Steps to Boxty
- Cut the potatoes in half and add 1/2 potato to the pot. Add enough water to completely cover the potatoes. * You can remove the skin, but I prefer to have skin for the texture. If you choose to use the skin, wash the potatoes thoroughly. * Season the water with a pinch of salt. Cook the potatoes until tender.
- Remove from the kitchen and drain the water. Put the potatoes back in the pot. Turn on low heat and use a spatula to mash the potatoes finely. Remove from the kitchen and leave. To make my life easier, I use a food processor to make half of the rest of the potatoes. Peel a squash, grate it and squeeze the juice.
- Add the mashed potatoes to the mashed potatoes. Stir until everything is well mixed. Add flour, baking powder, salt, butter and nutmeg. Mix until completely combined. * It will be easier to mix by hand. Don't confuse too much. *
- They need to be sticky and sticky. * You have to do it fast because the potatoes tend to oxidize very quickly. * Pour 1 tablespoon butter into a pan over medium heat. When the butter starts to melt, add 1 tablespoon to the potato mixture. Press the disc with the back of the spatula. * I used cake rings to get the chips. You can also make huge dice by throwing all the eggs into the pan. *
- Cook the bottom of the box until it is brown and almost burnt. Turn and bake until the bottom is brown. Remove from the heat and repeat the steps for the remaining time. I really like to put a box of scrambled eggs in front of me. For the scrambled eggs, add 1 tablespoon to a non-stick pan and place on low heat.
- Break the egg into a glass. After the butter has melted, add the eggs. Add 1 tablespoon of water to the sides of the egg. Cover and cook in the egg yolk until a white mirror is formed. Remove from the heat and place a stack of cardboard. Repeat the steps for the remaining eggs. Season with a little red pepper and salt. Garnish with parsley. Serve immediately.
